Founded in 2010, Gulmohar Maitri is a non-profit women's welfare organisation with a steadfast commitment to empowering young girls and women in Bihar. Our primary focus is on spreading awareness and providing vital information about women's health and hygiene. Over the years, we have spearheaded numerous welfare projects targeting menstrual health, hygiene, and the early detection of breast and cervical cancer.
We recognize that a lack of information, inadequate infrastructure, economic barriers, and societal norms significantly hinder women's ability to manage their health, particularly menstrual health. This often leads to cultural discrimination, health risks, and missed economic and educational opportunities. At Gulmohar Maitri, we confront these issues by providing classes and training on menstrual health and hygiene in schools across Bihar. We also collaborate with various organisations and corporates to create awareness and facilitate prevention and early detection of breast and cervical cancer.
Our efforts are focused on bringing about behavioural change and implementing effective communication strategies. We believe that a combination of training, information dissemination, and education in hygiene and sexual health is crucial for promoting holistic health for young girls and women. Through regular conferences, awareness camps, and health camps in both rural and urban areas, we have developed a strong network of doctors and professionals, all united in our core values and objectives.
Our mission is to tirelessly provide women with access to health-related information, education, training, and professional services, particularly in the areas of menstrual hygiene, breast cancer, and cervical cancer.
We envision a world where every woman is empowered and aware of health and hygiene-related issues, able to make informed decisions about her health.

In our journey towards achieving long-term goals, we set short-term targets. In the upcoming two years, we aim to provide cervical cancer vaccinations to 111,000 adolescent girls. This ambitious project was initiated in Patna on March 18, 2021, starting with the vaccination of 111 girls as a symbolic gesture. This project reflects our commitment to making tangible, impactful changes in the lives of young girls and women in our community.
